After 6+ years working almost exclusively with tech founders, we kept seeing the same gap: people were building companies with cutting-edge tools, while our tax world still relied on emails, spreadsheets, and slow workflows. Expectations were for tech-forward service, but the systems supporting their tax work hadn’t kept up.
That created a clear tension. Clients needed structure and accurate guidance, yet the industry was split between outdated manual processes and automations that didn’t genuinely solve complex questions — and sometimes made them worse.
We built The Millennial CPA to bridge that gap. We believe tax work can meet a higher standard by streamlining complexity through thoughtful systems, evolving best practices, and steady professional judgment. That’s why we stay firmly human-in-the-loop while continually reviewing software and refining workflows to keep the experience efficient, accurate, and designed for how people work today.
About Me
Sam Leon, CPA, founded The Millennial CPA after more than a decade in public accounting working with individuals, founders, and growing businesses. His accounting career began in 2013 at a high-volume individual tax practice in New York City, where he built a strong foundation in individual tax preparation and client service.
Over time, Sam moved into more complex tax work, supporting high-net-worth individuals, venture-backed startups, and founder-owned businesses. His career includes experience at a Big Four accounting firm, as well as boutique practices focused on startups and early-stage companies. That combination of large-scale technical exposure and small-firm, relationship-driven work shaped the standards he brings to his clients today.
Sam is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York and Virginia. His approach is straightforward: provide thoughtful, transparent guidance; maintain consistent communication; and deliver the continuity people need to make informed financial decisions throughout the year.
